We want to make booking your Best Life Adventure as easy as possible, which is why we’ve added the Refund Protect service to all of our adventures.
You now have the option to make the cost of your adventure with us, entirely refundable for certain circumstances – if you get struck down by covid just prior to your adventure, a family member gets ill, or you get injured and are unable to take part. The Refund Protect service is not insurance, but an extension of our standard terms and conditions and provides a refund for certain defined circumstances. It does cost a bit more than a regular booking (7% of the total package price), but this additional cost gives you peace of mind if something happens like testing positive for Covid just before your adventure begins, a family member becomes ill forcing you to isolate or a cyclone hits your home and you can’t leave.
Rest assured, the claims process is quick and easy, with payouts usually occurring within 48 hours.
How does Refund Protect differ from travel insurance?
Travel insurance in general has changed a lot since the covid-19 pandemic began, and most policies don’t cover situations such as covid infections, even if you purchase C.F.A.R. or the ‘cancel for any reason’ extra coverage. One other point about travel insurance is it usually only covers ‘cancellation’ if you purchase it within 21 days of paying your Booking Fee, something we usually leave to the last minute.
We still highly recommend travel insurance to protect you for expected expenses that happen DURING your adventure, and it is a mandatory requirement for all of our international expeditions outside of Australia, to cover you for medical treatment, trip delays or cancellation, lost baggage etc. Our preferred travel insurance partners are World Nomads.

When you book your adventure, you’ll see the Refundable Booking option is automatically selected for you. At this stage you can opt out and choose a regular non-refundable booking. If you have any questions at all, reach out to [email protected] or call me on +61 400 258156.
What is a Refundable Booking?
If you purchase the Refundable Booking option, you will be eligible to receive a full refund when you cancel an adventure with us for one of the many reasons covered, such as covid-19 infection, isolation, family illness, sickness, home emergency, change of examination dates and adverse weather. Documentation must be provided when filing a claim (see below). Full Refundable Booking Terms and Conditions can be viewed here.
How is this different from travel insurance?
Travel insurance will typically only cover cancellation if you purchase the “Cancel for Any Reason” additional cover on your policy within 14 – 21 days (depending on the provider) of paying your trip Booking Fee, and the list of covered reasons for the cancellation is limited. For example, most travel insurance policies won’t cover cancellation due to Covid-19, whereas Covid-19 is covered when you choose a Refundable Booking.
Do I still need travel insurance if I choose a Refundable Booking?
Yes, travel insurance is mandatory for your protection during international expeditions outside of Australia, whereas a Refundable Booking protects you from risk of loss before the adventure begins. Travel insurance is important for medical expenses, trip interruption, lost luggage and other situations that can occur during travel.
What happens if I choose Non-Refundable Booking?
Our regular cancellation Terms and Conditions apply, which you can find here. Please be aware that Best Life Adventures cannot provide a full refund when you cancel a booking.
Can I change to a Refundable Booking after I have paid my deposit?
No, the Refundable Booking option can only be selected prior to paying your deposit for your adventure.
What if I want to change from a Refundable to Non-Refundable booking immediately after paying my Booking Fee?
You have 14 days after the date of purchase to notify us if you want to change from a Refundable Booking to Non-Refundable Booking. We can refund you the amount you paid for the Refundable Booking surcharge if you notify us before the 14 days has passed.
Can I purchase the Refundable Booking option for only part of my adventure?
No, the Refundable Booking option must be applied to the entire booking including any Add-Ons.
Do I have to pay the entire Refundable Booking fee upfront?
No, you will only pay the fee on the amount of the installment you are paying at the time
How do I request a refund if I have purchased the Refundable Booking option?
To apply for a refund please contact the refund team: https://form.refundable.me/forms/refund. Refunds must be requested no more than 60 days after the adventure start date and the required documentation must be submitted.
What are the reasons I can request a refund if I have purchased the Refundable Booking option?

When can I request a refund if I have purchased the Refundable Booking option?

Can I request a refund if I change my mind about going on the adventure?
No, you may only request a refund on your Refundable Booking if your circumstances meet the list of approved reasons. Change of mind is not an approved reason.
Can I request a partial refund on my purchase if I have selected the Refundable Booking option?
Yes, you can partially refund part of your adventure if your circumstances meet the list of approved reasons.
What if an adventure is cancelled or rescheduled, who do I contact for a refund if I have purchased the Refundable Booking option?
All refunds for cancelled or rescheduled adventures are managed by Best Life Adventures. Details will be communicated directly to you if an adventure is cancelled or rescheduled. You do not need to request a refund on your Refundable Booking if your adventure is cancelled or rescheduled.
Refundable Booking v Non-Refundable Booking
If you select the Refundable Booking option, your booking is eligible for refund if you are unable to attend the retreat due to one of the listed reasons (and can provide the specific documentation required), subject to the general conditions of refund as stated here: https://www.refundable.me/extended/en
The Refundable Booking fee is 7% of the total package price, paid across each of your installments. If you select refundable booking for the deposit, you cannot then change to non-refundable for the balance payment.
